There's lots of good suggestions here for "accessible" stuff, which I basically agree with, but my advice differs somewhat. Most important is to keep one thing foremost: what constitutes a small taste for you (like an hour) may be more than your better half can take. My dear one is patient, and knows I can listen for the entire trip, but - make sure to intersperse your playlist with some stuff you know she likes and be very accommodating. Never play a 20-min Lovelight or Schoolgirl, and some Jerry ballads are a real drag for the uninitiated - like Wharf Rat or Stella Blue. My suggestion for an "easy" jam would be a St. St. into the Eleven, and maybe Garcia/Grisman Pizza Tapes....

Agree 100%. Part of my plan was to cut out 20 or 30 minute segments of dead, and couch those segments with other stuff, to create a collection of playlists that all last about an hour.
